Rock crystal is a transparent, colorless variety of quartz that often crystallizes in quartz veins, forming in rock cavities known as vugs or pockets. It most commonly occurs in rock crystal but is also found in smoky quartz, citrine, and amethyst. Phantom Quartz is found in countries such as Austria, Brazil, Madagascar, Switzerland, Australia, Tibet, and the United States. The phantom outlines typically align with the outer surfaces of the crystal, creating a fascinating glimpse into the crystal’s growth and development.
